Naturopathic Physical Manipulation
Naturopathic manipulative treatment (NMT) is a physical medicine treatment that Dr. Brody likes to use from time to time. This form of medicine uses manual and mechanical means to manipulate tissues, bones, fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, bursae, tendon sheaths, scar tissue, and visceral organs. These physical manipulation techniques can greatly help with healing of the physical body after injury or strain. The manipulations that Dr. Brody uses may take place anywhere in/on the human body, including, but not limited to the spine, cranium, or abdominal cavity and/or extremities. These manual and mechanical techniques involve the use of oscillation, thrust, pressure, and sustained tension.
Naturopathic Manipulation vs. Adjustments
Dr. Brody does not perform adjustments on patients in the state of CT. He instead performs manipulations. The word ‘Adjustment’ is protected by law and only Chiropractic Physicians can use. While Dr. Brody is in regular referral networks with Chiropractors some patients wish to address their musculoskeletal complaints between chiropractic visits. This is where naturopathic physical manipulations come into play. There are some manipulations that are inherent in naturopathic medical training which include visceral/organ manipulation along with neck, back, and extremities. Dr. Brody regularly refers to Chiropractic Physicians for regular physical medicine, but will perform “tune-ups” if desired.
Dr. Brody Utilizes:
- Naturopathic Manipulation Techniques (NMT)
- Physical Stretches
- Thuli Board techniques
- TML Tool Myofascial Scraping
- Low Volt Galvanic Electric Stimulation
- Iontophoresis
