The infrared sauna’s ability to help patients detox has made it a centerpiece of Dr. Brody’s treatment plans. With a calming atmosphere and the ability to increase a patient’s metabolism, the sauna has proven itself as a relaxing yet reliable way to help cleanse. But new research has shown that the sauna can help with preventative measures, too.
Researchers from the University of Eastern Finland and Bristol University teamed up to study close to 2,000 men from ages 42-61 and tracked their health for over 25 years. They compared how often these men went into a sauna to how often they went to a hospital for pneumonia, severe asthma attacks, or similar respiratory issues. Close to 20% of the men went to the hospital, but those who went to a sauna two or three times a week were 25% less likely to go to the hospital. Men who went into the sauna four times a week were 41% less likely to go.
While this study only followed men, it stands to believe women would have the same health benefits.
The infrared sauna creates a dry heat, sending infrared light directly into a patient’s tissue. This allows the patient to receive a direct benefit while creating a more relaxing environment. Dr. Brody also checks a patient’s vitals before and after their treatment.
